Wednesday October 30th 1918 At John & Ellens Corydon [Iowa] Cool but a fine morning Mostly cloudy John & I was down town 3 times we recd no letters we wrote to Leslie in DC John & I shaved I got a box of Shinola 10c John & I called on Elias Scales ins agt [insurance agent] we called on a taxi driver to take us 4 to depot at 4 tomorrow morning to go to Desmoines war news are still favorable
