[Isaac – Fri Aug 16] A fine Sunny warm day I awoke in the sleeper in Iowa feeling good Mother has headache which wore off thru the AM we took breakfast in the diner 1,20 arrived in Ioa City at 11,15 AM took cab to St James hotel 24c Each I got Shaved & head washed 45c we changed clothes took dinner & then Called on Mrs Ashton had a nice visit Mrs Chapman there at 3 PM Called on Schwimleys & they were away but Soon returned & Earnestly asked us to Stay the night with them Mr. S took buggy & I went with him to Hotel & got our Satchels & we had Supper & a good Social visit & went to bed with a prospect of a good quiet nights rest thunder & lightened rained a little
