Monday May 16th 1898 A nice drying day I took Maude to Wellman to School & bargained with the Wellman Savings Bank Co to Excavate a cellar for a new Bank building 22 ft wide 52 ft long & 3 ½ ft deep for $15 & I have all the dirt which I propose putting on my lots I engaged 2 teams & 2 hands to work at it I hurried home & brought Roy & he & I went to Washington after Stone Masons got there at 4-30 & put up 2 teams at Benz house Called on Mr Ferguson so as to have him ready Early I got Mag a Skirt 1,25 & some fancy soap a brush & 3 combs 70c called on Beamer & Co plumbers & got to bed near 10 oclock roads real Sloppy & muddy
