  1. Ellen Bradford was Virgil Bradford’s wife. I may have told you this. Her maiden name was Sophia Ellen Preble. She and Virgil took in a neighbor’s daughter when her father remarried after her mother’s death. They had a close and loving relationship. When that daughter married-(her name was Melissa “Missy” Rhoades Dorrance, she gave her first born child the middle name of Ellen after Ellen Bradford. That child gave her first born child the name of Ellen after Ellen Bradford. And the woman who gave me that information has the middle name of Ellen after Ellen Bradford, and she is alive and well in Cedar Rapids. I thus have an extremely high opinion of Ellen Bradford!
